Q-Tip’s self-titled solo CD, to be released by
Arista Records, is slated to hit stores on November

Q-Tip told MTV his new solo CD will be pure Q-Tip.
“It’s just a collection of songs. It’s just how I
feel,” Q-Tip confessed. “I think it’s different
than Tribe, because Tribe was just...it lived underneath
a curtain, instead of being in a group with other
people. It’s kinda just a part of yourself. Here, I
can be all of me. So hopefully it’s gonna have
something out there that everybody will be able to
enjoy.”
MTV News (http://www.mtv.com)
reports Q-Tip will co-star with Mary J. Blige, Fat Joe,
and Elvis Costello in the upcoming movie “Prison
Song.” Q-Tip co-wrote the flick, which follows a young
man through poverty and imprisonment, with Director
Darnell Martin. Shooting for the flick, co-produced by
Robert DeNiro, began in New York in September. Q-Tip,
who’s also serving as the music supervisor for the
movie, appeared in the 1993 flick “Poetic Justice”
with Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur.
Q-Tip’s former pals in A Tribe Called Quest are
also working on new projects. MTV reports Phife recently
recorded a solo single called “Bend Ova” and Ali
Shaheed Muhammad is involved in a project called Lucy
Pearl with Raphael Saadiq, formerly of Tony! Toni!
Tone!, and Dawn Robinson, formerly with EnVogue.
